1020 watt grid-tied solar-electric system, utilizing 12, pole-mounted BP 85-watt photovoltaic modules and Xantrex STXR battery-less inverter with maximum power point tracking (MPPT). Converting to battery backup system using Outback Power System GFX3048 inverter, Outback MX-60 charge controller with MPPT and 8 Trojan T-105 225AH batteries.
A home-built, 8-ft diameter wind turbine also provides power for the system.
A solar-thermal heating system is currently being installed which, along with a woodstove heating loop, will provide heat for domestic hot water and space heating via hydronic in-floor heating in a concrete slab retrofitted on top of the existing subfloor.
660 watt grid-tied, back-up solar-electric system utilizing 4, Sharp 165-watt modules, Outback Power Systems GFX2024 inverter, Interstate 12-V 107AH AGM sealed batteries, Blue Sky Solar Boost 3048 charge controller with Maximum Power Point Tracking, all housed in an Outback PSR cabinet.

Solar-Thermal heating system for domestic hot water and hydronic space heating. The system is closed-loop, utilizing two, 30-tube Thermomax evacuated tube collectors on the roof and a 120-gallon stainless steel solar storage tank with two integral heat exchangers. The solar heating is augmented with a high-efficiency, large-mass wood stove fitted with a Hydrocoil heat exchanger that also heats the storage tank. Backup domestic water heating is with an on-demand electric water heater.

27 concrete piers were poured on a rock outcrop, each pier shaped to the rock to make up the foundation of the house. With the solar array and wind turbine, more than enough power is generated year round to power the house systems. All water comes from a rain catchment system
With nearly 30 kilowatts of photovoltaic modules the Greaves Power Plant is the largest privately owned PV system in the northwest. Completed in 2002 100% of the output from the system is fed into the OPALCO's transmission system.
