Come see one of the most energy efficient
office spaces in the United States. The headquarters of Johnson
Braund Design Group, Inc. has been awarded both an 2009 EnergyStar
Certification, and was also the only recipient West of the
Mississippi for the 2008 EnergyStar Small Business Award for
Conservation. This facility, over the past two years, has cut net
energy use by 60% and water consumption by 90% - and is well on the
way to becoming fully net zero by 2012. The 10kW PV array and 2900
amp hour battery backup is just the beginning of this building; it
also features a highly advanced daylighting and occupancy controlled
lighting system that has reduced lighting loads to 1 watt per square
foot, *per day.* Annual energy consumption is now below 40 kBtu per
square foot, which exceeds that of any known, similar facility in
the United States. Heating and cooling are supplied by an extremely efficient heat-pump array, heat exchangers and an advanced air filtration system to ensure healthy and fresh air. Not only that, but also waste heat from the servers are re-captured and used to help heat the facility during the winter. Other amenities include: dual flush toilets, low flow toilets, 0.5 GPM faucets, 1.2 GPM showerhead, low VOC paints, LED lighting, and drought tolerant native plantings. The office is currently undergoing LEED and Green Globes certifications, and expects to receive the maximum level in each. |
