2008 Vashon Solar Tour Participants

 

***Kick-Off Site #6  Jason and Jennifer Williams 13129 SW 248th

3.2 K grid tied system 16 Sharp 200 panels and a Fronuis inverter.  In addition, 20 tube Evacuated Tube solar thermal system.

 

 

Tour Site #1   Kirk and Janie Starr  12016 Cedarhurst

8.4K grid tied system installed in 2007

 

Tour Site #2  Lotus and Barbara Smith  17310 97th Place SW

Alternate Energy Technology “Eaglesun” Drainback solar hot water system.  Also, a solar food dryer and rainwater collection systems on home.

 

Tour Site #3  Jeanne and Randy Robinson 10421 SW Bank Road, Co Housing #11 

8 Suntech Panels (1360 watts total) with a Solectria Inverter.  Grid tied system generates 1/3 of the family’s annual usage.  This is a walk-by site-owner will not be home.

2 Solar panels, rainwater collection system

 

 

 

 

Tour Site #5  Judy and Tai Elgar 28305 99th Ave

4.5 K grid tied system-28 Sharp solar panels with a Sunny Boy Inverter.  This system powers the house and charges their electric car!  Car will available on site for the tour.

 

Tour Site #7 Randy York  27909 140th Ave. SW

Pole mounted system with 12 Evergreen 120 Watt solar panels and a Sunny Boy inverter.  Home also features a solar water pre heat system, passive solar design of the home, and energy efficient refrigerator made in Denmark of 100% recyclable materials.  Goats will be on site to demonstrate brush clearing!

 

Tour Site #8 (not on map) Chris Bingham and Cathy Balan, 12523 SW 297th Way

This solar hot water system is designed to boost the temperature of an existing electric hot water heater found in any typical home.  It is situated in a separate demonstration building that is extremely well insulated.  We installed this system in 2005 and it has cut our electric use by one third!
