Dear Friends & Members of Solar Washington,
The link for this article was sent by Chris Talbot of the MREA. We have asked for and received permission from the good folks at Mother Jones to post the link on our website. If you have any feedback, they would love to hear it.
Mother Jones
and the Midwest Renewable Energy Association has teamed up to bring you this
news. Mother Jones has offered to let MREA members read the article “One
Roof at a Time”, FREE of charge! (It’s normally paid content on their website.)
As a non-profit organization with an educational mission, Mother Jones
wants to make its resources and information available to support likeminded
organizations, such as the MREA.
In the article “One Roof at a Time”, reporter Bill McKibben writes that although
power from wind and sun still represent only 1 percent of the world’s electric
generation, in some places, like Germany and Japan, solar power is beginning to
edge into the mainstream. Now, observes McKibben, motivated partly by
environmentalism and partly by big savings on electric bills—but mostly by the
thrill of “doing it themselves” --many US homeowners are beginning to follow
suit.
So enjoy the article, and remember to thank Mother Jones.
