We took the solar project to the South Sound Regional Science Fair and the project received four awards! It got the Herbert Hoover Young Engineering Award, the Office of Naval Research Award, the National Society of Professional Engineers Innovative Engineering Award, and First Place in the category of Engineering! It seemed that all of the Marine Chemistry projects got one or more awards as well. Meghan Gavin's Underwater Plankton trap design project got second overall and she is going to the national competition in Indianapolis. It does seem that the judges truly enjoyed seeing how the collector and heating system project developed and they liked reading how everything worked! Mr. Nilsen will display all of the awards received by the Marine Chem group somewhere near the Marine Chem room.
Thank you to Solar Richard Thompson for everything on the project and I hope that next year's work turns out really well too!
