End of Green tags via NW Solar Coop

Regretfully - As of December 31, 2006, the Three Phases Energy solar Green Tags purchase program will be discontinued.

Given that Three Phases Energy is currently the only buyer of Green Tags from the NW Solar Coop, this means that the NW Solar Coop will not be able accept any new Green Tags contracts after December 31, 2006. The Coop will accept 5 year contracts (residential) at 5 cents/kWh until that date.

The Rules for this discontinuance transition are: (1) The system has to be installed, interconnected and operating before December 31, 2006 and (2) NW Solar Coop will have received a signed 3 Phases Contract and Application (both available from my Web site) by December 31, 2006. NOTE: This is a very strict deadline.

I will continue to look for Green Tags buyers to buy Tags from small photovoltaic systems through the NW Solar Coop. With some luck, I may find one or several, but price will be uncertain, of course. If any of you know of buyers of solar Tags that would want to buy Tags from small systems aggregated by the NW Solar Coop, then let me know and I'll talk with them about contracts.

Finally, Pacificorp in concert with 3 Phases Energy is setting up a grant program for block purchases of solar kilowatthours from contracted PV systems at 2.5 cents per kWh, but this program (currently being developed) will be for a limited number of solar installations, and there will be a grant application/award process. It's my understanding that this may apply to just larger-than-residential systems.
