This page was for the 2002 National Tour of Solar Buildings.  It is maintained here for archive purposes.

See how the Pacific Northwest is contributing to the Goals of the World Summit.

This is a unique opportunity to visit Energy-Producing Buildings in the Puget Sound area and across the country!

Thousands of people in communities across the U.S. have designed and built homes and buildings to take advantage of passive and active solar energy systems.  Solar and wind energy are making a steady advance as oil and gas move into an inevitable decline. The petroleum industry itself predicts that by 2050 clean, renewable energy will provide more than half of the world's energy needs. With the instability of the Middle East, dwindling U.S. petroleum reserves increasingly difficult to reach, and global warming a dangerous potential, renewable energy is a must for our future energy security.

Solar Washington is a chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES).  Our mission is to promote the development and effective use of solar and renewable energy and the related arts, sciences, and technologies with concern for the economic, environmental, and social fabric of Washington State through education and training. Your membership is welcomed.

Every year, ASES sponsors a National Tour to let people see for themselves how solar homes can be affordable, comfortable, and practical in all kinds of climates. Solar Washington is participating in ASES' 2002 National Tour of Solar Buildings. This is a self-guided tour and many homeowners or installers will be available to talk with visitors.

The tour runs from 10am to 4pm on Saturday October 5th, 2002
